  An apparently good value stop right on the end of the Camino stage into Caldas. With swimming pool and spa and comfortable rooms - just don't eat here - the food was a combination of uncooked chicken served with obvious left overs from earlier in the day.

  Didn't feel particularly welcome at this hotel. Me and a friend were walking the Portuguese Camino, and this was a hotel booked by our tour company. It is obviously a spa, so are they just taking in Camino Pilgrims during the off season?

  Comfortable and charming, although the furniture didn't suit the former grandeur of the buildings. Definitely a quirky place, not for everyone but I really enjoyed both the naturally heated pool, walking in the garden along the river and the room, which looked out onto colorful Chestnut trees and a horreo. Breakfast overlooking the Umia river was also nice. This place is a key destination for the Spanish elderly people's travel agency, so don't expect a young and hip clientele. But it is quiet and in a lovely location ;)

  The room was okay, bathroom, okay, but there was a distressing event in the night. All night long there was this green light glow from a fixture just inside our room. I was managing to sleep with it on, (no switch would turn it off), but then at 2:24 a.m., that light fixture and the bathroom light suddenly went on full. No switch in the room would turn them off. I even tried turning off the breaker in the fuse box. Nothing would make the light go away. I was very angry and wanted to slam a door or something, but didn't....it was not the fault of other tenants. The light suddenly went off about five minutes later. I had noticed loose wires hanging from the ceiling...so I guess they are doing work on the system, but have gotten it wrong, maybe linked to another switch somewhere else? In the morning, I asked the guy at the front desk. He proposed a weird explanation: that the town has some sort of nightly power surge, and that's what caused the light to come on. I really don't respect people who make up stupid explanations, and expect me to be even more stupid and believe them.

  Dirty, smelly, disgusting. Don't go this hotel. It is a waste of your money to stay here. I think I'm still traumatized by this hotel.
